Elements of a Successful Wharton MBA Application

Prospective students frequently ask us how to prepare a successful application. Many are distressed to find that the Wharton MBA Admissions process is not numbers-driven – based primarily on previous academic performance, test scores (e.g., GMAT, TOEFL), and number of years in the work force.

Because the MBA is a professional degree that centers on applied knowledge (grounded in theory), we are as interested in an individual’s leadership, teamwork, personal qualities, and professional skills – whether demonstrated or potential – as in his or her academic preparedness for our challenging curriculum.  This holistic approach to evaluating candidates creates a richer and more diverse class and learning environment.
