Wharton Beyond the Numbers: Eureka! Entrepreneurship @ Wharton
What do back pain and pet insurance have in common? Recent winners of the Wharton Business Plan Competition (WBPC) used this entrepreneurial contest to develop their ground-breaking ideas in these two areas. Now both teams have taken their concepts to the market—literally! Part of the winning prize is ringing the NASDAQ closing bell.
The WBPC is just one of many resources available to our aspiring entrepreneurs. If you’re looking for other entrepreneurial opportunities, well…grab a pen, because the list is long!
A great place to begin your research would be this VIDEO from pre-term—watch it and you’ll hear the entire information session that Wharton Entrepreneurial Programs delivered to the Class of 2010, including some real-life success stories from Wharton Alums:
http://wep.wharton.upenn.edu/teaching/infoSession.html
There are also a number of student-run clubs and conferences at Wharton that offer amazing opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs:
· Wharton’s Private Equity & Venture Capital Conference
· Wharton Business Technology Conference
And no list of resources available to entrepreneurs at Wharton would be complete without mentioning the Wharton Small Business Development Center.
We hope you’ll quickly start to see that Wharton has a multitude of resources available for you to develop your dreams and ideas into real-life successes. From the Weiss Tech House and PennVention, to start-up related coursework and the Entrepreneurs in Residence Program, your opportunities for entrepreneurial experience at Wharton will only be limited by one fact: as an MBA student, there will STILL be just 24 hours in your day. And if you can invent something to change THAT…we recommend you file a patent ASAP.
